India, today, faces the dual burden of adolescent obesity and malnutrition. “Students’ Health Action through Recreational Exercise and Nutrition” (S.H.A.R.P.E.N) is a campaign for building healthy and lifestyle disease free generations. It is a school-based peer led health promotion program using both digital platform as well as contact classes. It works by enhancing the capacity of the schools in order to improve students’ knowledge, attitude towards preventive health, cognitive development as well as performance in sports.

S.H.A.R.P.E.N works

• By inculcating a fun-filled and student-led initiative to promote healthy behavior in terms of nutrition, physical activity/exercise, sports and stress management. This lays a strong foundation against the looming threat of lifestyle diseases.
• By empowering teachers as "Facilitators” and students as “Champions of healthy behavior."
• By providing Basic Life Support training to teachers and students for emergency medical situations.
• Promoting a culture where healthy habits and topics are discussed with a scientific and logical approach.
• By forming a replicable and cost-effective model of healthy behavior promotion for schools across India.

Our Tools

01. SHARPEN Mobile based app

The purpose of this app is to keep students updated about physical activity/exercise, nutrition, lifestyle diseases, basic life support, reproductive health and mental health in a fun and competitive way

02. S.H.A.R.P.E.N Fun workshops

These workshops will be conducted by EcDEESHA fitness, nutrition and medical experts in S.H.A.R.P.E.N affiliated schools.

03. S.H.A.R.P.E.N Champions and Community

We intend to celebrate the Champions of healthy behavior and create a cascade model where these Champions influence their peers to adopt healthy behaviors and to build a strong and healthy generation.
